The best time to install energy efficient systems is during construction of your new home. You will save energy, reduce your energy bills, enjoy more comfort, and your home will produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

A power smart new home is built with required standards of specific energy efficient features. Build the home that’s right for your family by choosing either Silver or Gold Standards.

Silver includes:

  • R-50 attic insulation with raised heel roof truss
  • R-20 foundation insulation
  • Energy Stat programmable thermostat
  • High efficiency natural gas furnace, electric furnace or geothermal heat pump
  • Air tightness of 2 ACH/hr
  • Low flow shower head
  • Energy efficient lighting in every room

Gold includes:

  • R-50 attic insulation with raised heel roof truss
  • R-24 foundation walls
  • R-26 above grade exterior wall (electrically heated home only)
  • Energy Star programmable thermostat
  • Electric hot water tank with 2” insulation
  • Low flow shower head
  • Gas fireplaces with electronic ignition
    • ECM (electrically commutated motor) or
    • HRV (heat recovery ventilation motor)
  • Energy efficient lighting
    • EMC (electrically commutated motor) or
    • HRV (heat recovery ventilation motor)
